Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ffmotorsportuk@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Remapping a car refers to the process of modifying or optimizing the software that controls the engine, also known as the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU is responsible for managing various parameters of the engine, including fuel injection, ignition timing, turbo boost pressure (if applicable), and airflow. By adjusting these settings, remapping can improve the car's performance, fuel efficiency, or both.

Depending on your ECU type it can take anywhere from1HR to 2.5HRS in most cases. Some ECU’s need to be tuned out of the vehicle – this can add to the time it takes.

Yes. Remapping it a completely legal process that ultimately allows you to unlock your car to its full potential!

Yes! For a small cost we can reflash your ecu totally back to stock as if it had never been remapped. We usually see this if someone wishes to sell their car in stock form after removing all of their modifications.

  1. Increased horsepower and torque: By fine-tuning the engine's parameters, remapping can boost the engine's power output.
  2. Better fuel efficiency: In some cases, remapping can lead to better fuel economy by optimizing the air-fuel mixture and other parameters for efficiency.
  3. Improved throttle response: Remapping can make the car more responsive by reducing the delay between pressing the accelerator and the car's reaction.
  4. Custom performance adjustments: If a vehicle has had hardware modifications (like a new exhaust or turbo), remapping can adjust the ECU to accommodate these changes, unlocking more potential from the upgrades.

Remapping is completely safe but there are risks when modifying your vehicle. We ensure to not push your vehicle to unsafe limits from a tuning perspective. The main risk is increased wear – especially when physically modifying various parts of your vehicle. We would highly recommend increasing your current service schedule and with some stage 2 maps changing the oil & fuel you use. For example, after Stage 2 mapping on some vehicles they will perform best with 99RON fuel and 5W40 instead of 5W30.

Some of our solutions are tailor made for offroad use only as highlighted in our terms so passing an MOT is not something we can guarantee however, so far 100% of our customers vehicles have passed their MOTs.

On many newer vehicles dealer supply a warranty on the vehicle disallowing of any type of modification to your vehicle. General diagnostic software is not able to detect if a vehicle has been remapped however a software engineer if investigated can see if the ECU has been flashed. The simple answer is yes remapping can affect your dealer warranty so if you have a new vehicle and intend to keep your warranty, we would recommend leaving your vehicle stock until the warranted duration has commenced.
